SW4STM32 and SW4Linux fully supports the STM32MP1 asymmetric multicore Cortex/A7+M4 MPUs

With System Workbench for Linux, Embedded Linux on the STM32MP1 family of MPUs from ST was never as simple to build and maintain, even for newcomers in the Linux world. And, if you install System Workbench for Linux in System Workbench for STM32 you can seamlessly develop and debug asymmetric applications running partly on Linux, partly on the Cortex-M4.
You can get more information from the ac6-tools website and download (registration required) various documents highlighting:

System Workbench for STM32

New installations is now uploaded !

EDIT
it’s corrected !
All the installations can be downloaded and installed !

Hi,

We faced some troubles in the installations upload. (especially for windows32 and macOs)
Please wait few hours to try again, the issue will be fixed this evening.

Christelle

Hi installed the new version. Cannot start it. Error message: a log has been created in c:\user....

Hi MarkV6,

Could you give us more information please:
- Have you made your installation on a new folder or in the same folder than an old install?
- The error message only says : “a log has been created in c:\user....”?
- Could you provide us with the log?

Regards

Hi,

It is installed on top of the previous version. The first time it will start. Try to run a project:
An internal error occurred during: “Launching F4_Ft800_ Debug”.
org.eclipse.cdt.dsf.gdb.service.GdbDebugServicesFactory.(Ljava/lang/String;Lorg/eclipse/debug/core/ILaunchConfiguration;)V

Next it does not start again, message:
Eclipse:
An error has occured. See the log file:
(see attachment)

This is the second time i install an update and it does not work anymore, a few month ago there was a problem importing cubemx projects.

Mark

hi Mark,

It’s not advised to install a new version on an old one.
You have to cleaned the folder before or change the installation path of the new one.

Can you try it ?
Christelle

Removing the old version did make it work. Now it asked to update the workspace for the new version. All ok now.

Hello,

the file for macOS has the extension .run is it normal ? if yes how can I install .run on mac.

Regards,

Dear AC6 Team,

This evening I found an update and based on the message that I must update the complete Eclipse package I did it.
Now I’ve got Software Workbench for STM32 V2 with Neon.3 Release (4.6.3) Build id: 20170314-1500.
This package is installed in a new directory and thanks to the new package I can’t work at all. The first time I tried to build project, operating system (Win 8.1) had found a serious error and the computer restarted. Right after that, I found that build option is permanently disabled. Everytime I tried to start debugging in a ‘Launch debug error’ pop-up window there was a message: ‘Trying to execute the disabled command org.eclipse.ui.project.buildProject’.
I also tried to go back to previous version (already Mars 2 v.4.5.2) and now I can’t assign any External Tool Builder. The old one seems to be corrupted. The new one can’t be created as long as the system can see the old one.
Can you propose in this situation any solution, other than changing the IDE?
Best regards,
Kris

Hello Kris,

Apologize for that situation which seems indeed out of control ..

Anyway Eclipse installations can cohabit independently on the same machine, thus System Workbench too.
The only shared areas are the .eclipse folder (in %HOMEPATH%) and the workspace.
You could try to rename .eclipse to keep a backup, and to use a new workspace to eliminate persistent data that might cause troubles...

Also posting your workspace(s) log file(s), plus the content of the Configuration tab could help to understand what is going wrong:

  • WORKSPACE_DIR/.metadata/.log
  • Help > Installation Details > Configuration > Copy to Clipboard

Rgds,

I am currently using the “install_sw4stm32_win_64bits-v1.14.0”.
When I perform SoftwareUpdate, it does not able to update to latest version.

If I take the install_sw4stm32_win_64bits-v2.0.exe, is it save to install over the exisiting folder c:\AC6\SystemWorkbench ?

Or I should install to new folder completelty.

It is definitely safer to install into a new folder or manually erase the old installation before.
